Meet Bonita Anthony

Delegate Bonita G. Anthony is a proud Norfolk native with deep ancestral roots in Chesapeake, representing parts of Norfolk and South Chesapeake in the Virginia House of Delegates for House District 92. With strong ties to both communities, she brings a lifelong passion for service and a steadfast commitment to advocacy. Del. Anthony’s diverse educational background—including two engineering degrees from Old Dominion University and a Master of Divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University—equips her with a unique perspective that bridges technology, policy, and faith-driven leadership.

Since taking office in November 2023, Del. Anthony has been a driving force in advancing policies that strengthen education and workforce development, enhance public safety, protect data privacy, and combat food insecurity. She has championed legislation that expands career pathways for students, ensures safer communities, and promotes equitable access to essential resources. Through her legislative efforts, she remains a fierce advocate for working families, prioritizing economic opportunity, and protections for the most vulnerable Virginians.

Her leadership extends beyond the House floor—she serves on the Finance, Privileges & Elections, and Transportation committees, where she helps shape the state’s fiscal policies, electoral systems, and infrastructure development. Additionally, Del. Anthony plays an influential role on several key commissions, including the Joint Commission on Technology and Science (JCOTS), where she chairs the Subcommittee for Online & Data Protections, working to safeguard digital privacy and security. She also serves on the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization Board and the Commission to End Hunger, further amplifying her advocacy for smart transportation solutions and food equity.
